International not-for-profit working to end the water, sanitation and hygiene crisis - for good.
About us
WaterAid is an international charity with one goal: to change the world through water. Along with decent toilets and good hygiene, a reliable supply of clean water is essential for health, dignity and a life full of opportunity. Today we work alongside communities worldwide setting up entire systems that deliver clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for millions. And we get the people, policies and money in place to keep these systems working – and the water flowing for good. So that people have safe, reliable services that last. Together with our partners and supporters, we are working with determination towards the day when we are no longer needed.

Does your business operate in agriculture, textiles, food and beverages, or manufacturing? Is your business or supply chain exposed to water stress, droughts or floods, or to inadequate water and sanitation services? If you answered yes to either of these questions, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) are likely to be a material issue for your business. We can support you to understand and address your WASH risks and impacts, aligned to EU corporate sustainability regulations, by identifying data requirements and understanding local contexts. 1 in 10 people around the world still don’t have clean water close to home, and climate change is making things worse. By 2040, 1 in 4 children will be living in places where there isn’t enough water to meet demand. Yesterday, WaterAid joined thousands of others at the The Climate Coalition #MassLobby to urge the UK Government to support the communities bearing the brunt of climate change, despite often being the least responsible for it. And this starts with water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Why? Because WASH doesn’t just improve lives, it transforms them. It helps communities adapt to climate change, supports food and energy security, boosts health, and drives economic growth. Our incredible supporters and volunteers travelled to Westminster to speak directly with MPs and highlight how access to these basic essentials can make communities healthier, more secure and more resilient to the effects of climate change. It’s time to #ActNowChangeForever for people, for climate, and for a fairer future. A massive thanks to the MPs who met with and listened to our volunteers! We are proud to join members of the British Expertise International's Water Resilience working group to celebrate the launch of its new report – "Water Resilience: Unlocking Local and Global Benefits Through Collaboration". The report includes a case study from our work in Nepal on the Beacon Project – an example of collaboration and long-term commitment to improving access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for communities who are often excluded. We are committed to collaborating with partners, donors, governments and communities to improve access to these essential services – in Nepal and beyond.
The BEI Water Resilience Working Group members are excited to share a new edition of our report, Water Resilience – Unlocking Local and Global Benefits Through Collaboration. ⏩ Download your free copy here: https://lnkd.in/e7GBbuPd Over the past year, the geopolitical and funding landscape has shifted significantly. Take a look at the making of our new film 🏆💧 Filming the iconic Championships trophies at Wimbledon was a truly special moment in our partnership with the Wimbledon Foundation, and it's all to share this one message: having time to play starts with clean water. Do you remember our Future on Tap Christmas appeal? Almost five years later, 45,984 people living in Berbere, a drought-prone area of Ethiopia, now have clean water on tap – in their community, at school and in their healthcare facilities. Before this, children like Ayat often missed classes because it was challenging to attend school or manage their periods without decent toilets. None of this would be possible without your incredible support and the UK Aid Match scheme funded by the UK government. #UKAid
